The core

One modern engine instead of a stack of parts

Headendix is written in Go, a compiled language widely used for network servers. The streaming core and the panel are two standalone programs that run directly on Linux. There is no PHP, PHP-FPM, Python, Apache or Nginx on your server, so there is less to install, configure, update and patch.

Viewer apps talk to the Headendix core (panel and streaming core in Go), which uses MariaDB and, when needed, FFmpeg, and feeds load balancers and optional Edge servers that stream to viewers. 01

Speaks your apps' language.

The core answers player_api.php, get.php, xmltv.php, Enigma2 and the MAG/Stalker portal itself, with no PHP files behind them. Your viewers' apps don't change.

02

Native relay for live channels.

HTTP MPEG-TS sources that are copied as they are get relayed by the core itself, with one connection per source shared by every channel that uses it. FFmpeg handles transcoding, filters, custom commands, HLS/RTMP sources and archive.

03

Restarts without the usual freeze.

When a channel restarts or switches source, the core rewrites timestamps and counters so players carry on.

04

Updates that check themselves.

Packages are signed (Ed25519) and refused if a single file differs. Load balancers keep the previous version and restore it if the new one fails to start. Where the core supports hot handoff, the new version takes over the running connections so viewers keep watching. Otherwise it does a normal restart.

A server runs the Headendix core, the Headendix panel and MariaDB. Our signed, static FFmpeg build is included, and it is used only if it passes a self-test on your server. Edge servers stay light and keep no copy of your data.
